Normally, preparation for an unbaptized person is at least a year, but may be longer. For those baptized in other Christian churches or baptized Catholics who wish to receive Confirmation and Eucharist, the preparation time will vary. Catholic adults seeking to complete initiation by receiving Confirmation may also join this group. Formation at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton is:
- Communal—a group process
- Scriptural–using the Sunday Mass readings
- Liturgical—rites, blessings, sacraments
- Charitable—formation for a life of giving and service
- Oriented—towards conversion and growth
